Grand Opening

Dear Republicans,

The day after Labor Day is the traditional kickoff for the campaign season, and we will be holding the Grand Opening of our Headquarters in Dover-Foxcroft at 4 PM. Some major Republican figures from around the state will be there, so please come and give them a rousing welcome. If anyone has some goodies to bring, please do so 🙂

Robert’s Fair Report
We covered the Fair from 8AM Thursday morning 10648267_507826112654502_3476526642102317484_ountil 6:10 PM Sunday night, and had a lot of success.

Charlie Shaffer set up Wed evening, and had been there for a while when Jill Halkin and I got there at 6 PM. After we removed everything out onto the grass, Jill ordered us out of the building and then did her White Tornado thing – very impressive. We were done by 8.

I did not give Paul Stearns any instructions – capable people are best left to their own devices. The result was an outstanding display – I’m thinking Paul could end up decorating the Capitol building 🙂

Paul opened every morning. Norm Higgins along with Trisha White, Maureen, Pete Johnson, Jim Annis and Ray Wallace held the middle shifts Thurs and Friday with some assistance from Bob and Gail Lynch. Paul and Patty Davis with Bob and Gail, Ray, Pete, Jim and Trisha White and Kathy Johnson did the heavy lifting Saturday. Jill and I were there from 2 or 3 PM to close at 8 PM daily, and Sunday from 1:30 to close. I must have missed somebody here, kudos to whoever figures it out.

We gave out over 40 signs, collected nearly $100 in donations, mostly for the Collins shirts and the LePage signs. And we were chewed out by 2 ladies in separate instances over the bear hunting referendum materials on the table. Those were also the most popular literature on the tables.

Attendance was not strong, but at least they went the distance on Sunday, quite a few parents with children that day, unlike last year when they started closing up at 2 or 3 PM.

Our profile was light years stronger than that of the Dems, who had a little tent near gate 1 with “I Like Mike” signs posted on it. I think more Democrats came to our booth 🙂
