My name is Sean Hadley. I am 43 years old and have lived in Dover since 2018. I have been happily married for 13 years and we enjoy living in this area. I am a veteran of the US Marine Corps. I served from 2003-2011 with one deployment to Iraq in 2006 where I experienced an IED attack and that experience has shaped my future. I also joined the Maine Air National Guard (US Air Force) from 2012-2015 as a flight line mechanic working on the KC-135 refueled in Bangor, Maine! I am an avid outdoorsman and support that way of life in our county from ATV riding, hunting/fishing, and beyond. It is important we protect this lifestyle for future generations from large-scale wind and solar farms and widened power corridors which I do not support and never have.
I am currently a voting member of the Piscataquis County Republican Committee and an active volunteer with the Dover Rovers ATV Club. I have started a farmstead on my property called Patriot’s Purpose Farmstead! I am hoping to become a small-scale mixed vegetable production growing operation in the next few years and have a farm stand on the property.
I am running for selectman because I have learned a great deal about the issues people have with the way Dover-Foxcroft has been run in the past. I believe in full transparency in government and that the people should know where their money is being spent and why. There is a lack of accountability for decision-making or lack of planning that has negatively impacted the taxpayers of Dover. Long-term planning for each department is essential to a town’s success. There is a strong message being sent by town residents about conflicts of interest from town leadership. These are serious conflicts that need to be addressed and some are even to the point of (I believe) needing to be investigated. There should be no questions of impropriety from any elected or hired town officials, period! Roads and bridges are always something that needs to be looked at. I will learn how these decisions are made and work with those I need to in order to see that road maintenance is done so that the people’s needs are at least heard and addressed as to why certain roads aren’t being fixed. I want to ensure that all town transactions are legal and benefit the taxpayers of town and not of questionable legality outside of the norms of town functions. This is just a shortlist of things that I would like to address going forward if I win!
I will not be taking any money from this position. Technically if I have to take money (aka fill out the paperwork) for this service, it will be donated back to the town coffers. Some have argued that I should give it to charity but it’s taxpayers’ money and it should be put back to the town budget where it came from. I do not want to be paid to do a service for the taxpayers.
Lastly, I am an outsider. I have no expertise in running the government and that is a good thing. Towns like Dover need fresh faces from the taxpaying populace to join in town governance and give new perspectives in decision-making. I support small businesses, freedom, and Individual liberty and I do not support mask or vaccine mandates and believe they have no place here. I believe Dover should become a 2A sanctuary town and proclaim such so we can show our undivided support of the right of the citizens to own firearms in Dover from government assault. Dover is also not equipped to handle the housing of refugees such as the large cities and I believe the border should be closed and people thoroughly vetted through a legal process before they come to any town in America. It would be cruel and inhuman to bring people to a town ill-equipped with resources to handle such a crisis. As you know I have gone toe to toe with Piscataquis ProAct on this issue and will continue to challenge them and the county democrats on all issues.
I am not a politician, I am not soft-spoken, I often speak loudly online with emotion from my point of view. I consider myself a populist Patriot and do not care for RINO’s or people who believe compromise is the way forward. No more compromises on our rights and freedoms. I will do my best to fight for you. I am not going to just fight people on the board but I will fight FOR you so that I can make a difference for the people and be there to listen to their concerns when no one else has before. I can’t promise that your road will get fixed or that the taxes will get lowered. I am one man and this board still has up to 4 left or left-leaning people on it even if I get elected. I will need help next year and beyond if I win to get seats back so that we can change the town back to a more conservative-run municipality with freedom, liberty, and prosperity in mind. We can weed out the bad apples on both sides but you need to take part in your governance and show up to meetings to help me get the issues resolved you wish to see done.
Thank you for considering me for your next town selectman for Dover-Foxcroft. No matter how you vote, be sure to get out on Nov. 2 and let your voice be heard on the town and state ballot issues as well as this election for town leadership.
As a PATRIOT, I live by the conservative PRINCIPLES that the founding fathers had when creating this nation in the PURPOSE of Making Dover-Foxcroft a great, prosperous, free, and vibrant town!
Sincerely,
Sean Hadley
God-Bless Dover-Foxcroft!
